Our Philosophy
Our Goal- Philosophy
Our sages have taught us, that the world stands on three things: Torah, Avodah and Gemilut Chasadim. Some would say there is a fourth element, Eretz Israel, but to us, this is an intrinsic part of the Torah, just as the heart is to the human body.
We try and implement the same concepts in our trips.
But since it is summer..., we figure that the most appropriate way to begin implementing these concepts are through the saying "Ivdu Et Hashem BeSimcha" We therefore, strive to have the most fun possible while keeping to our underlying believes.
Torah: is implemented by starting off each day with a daily shiur and with davening three times a day in a minyan. In addition, there is an optional Daf Yomi shiur for those who are on the daf program, and do not want to miss out neither on the trip nor on the daf.
Avodah: although the campers are not working on the trip, we refer to the many activities which the kids are engaged in as "work". The reason is that hikes along with bike trails and white water rafting are closer to work than they are to learning a Daf of Gemora. We therefore, try and instill the concept of Bechol Drachecha Da'Ehu. In all your ways, know him (G-D).
Gemilut chasadim: applies bein Adam Lechvero even where there are no needy people. On our trip, special attention is given to note the help each child gives another, whether it be a hand they lend when on a hike, or letting another go first. The counselors are instructed to notice and react both to positive behavior as well as to negative behavior exhibited by the children on the trip, and to award merits, to those who out stand in Gemilut Chasadim Bein Adam LeChavero.
Eretz Israel: What better way is there to show our love for the land, than travel across the land while emphasizing the connection to the Tanach as we go from place to place. Every day the Mitzvah of Kum Vehithalech Ba'aretz is fulfilled.
In addition, when camping and sleeping in tents, underneath the open sky, we experience the Tanach, just like our forefathers Avarham and Yitzchak did, when they too lived in tents.
And Fun???Well this commandment we fulfill with great Simcha throughout our entire trip.
And now to the Negative commandments:
We absolutely do not allow Drugs, smoking, vulgar language, obscenity, physical or verbal abuse. Any camper not adhering to these rules will be expelled immediately from the trip without a refund.
